INTEGRATED PROGRAMME FOR OLDER PERSONS:

The oldage home established at Kollapur Mandal HQ accommodates 25 men and women above 60 years age and provides free shelter and food. Along with daily needs, care and support with regard to their psychological and physical needs will be provided to them. This center also adorns with the environment of spirituality, meditation and peace of mind.

It is our motto to create a family like atmosphere with love, affection and devotion to keep elderly people away from feeling abandoned and ignored by their family members.

RELIGIOUS AND NATIONAL FESTIVALS:

Our organization celebrates all national festivals like Diwali, Dussera, Ugadi, Sankranthi, Shivarathri etc. We also celebrate national holidays like Independence day and Republic day at the old age home. Special lunch and sweets are provided to the residents on all these occasions.

GENERAL AWARENESS CAMPS:

We have conducted several general awareness camps during the year 2011 – 2012 on different issues in some Villages of Kollapur Mandal and other nearby villages. The following issues were discussed during the camps.

  • HEALTH CAMPS:During the visits to the villages we have conducted several health awareness camps for aged people and children regarding diseases such as Chikungunya, Malaria, etc. They were also informed how to keep the premises clean and neat to prevent the spread of diseases in the community.
  • AIDS AWARENESS PROGRAMME:AIDS is a deadly disease threatening the world with minimal cure and quick spreading. The main reason is the ignorance and lack of knowledge and awareness about safe sex methods & practices. We have launched awareness campaigns to educate a people about the control of AIDS and its deadly consequences.

    CONSUMER RIGHTS: In our visits and camps, the people are made aware of the right to prevent adulteration of goods and the responsibilities of the suppliers to supply un-adulterated goods at reasonable and fixed rates. People are made aware that any consumer or consumer organization has the right to file a complaint against the suppliers with the Central Govt., State Govt., or Union Territory Administrators.
  • PULSE POLIO PROGRAMME: In this programme, the people are informed of the advantages of administering polio drops to children of up to five years. We motivate mothers of children to co-operate with the Pulse Polio staff during the Polio Vaccination Programme and to make sure all children are vaccinated. We also inform the parents of the polio affected children about various government funding opportunities to help them with studies and jobs.
  • CHILD LABOUR AWARENESS CAMPS: Child labour in India has become a chronic problem in the development of the country as children are forced into child labour for various family reasons. We conduct Child Labour awareness camps in the villages of Kollapur Mandal.

    We also inform the parents to send their children from ages 6 to 14 years to schools without engaging in field work. The Government Child Labour Act and punishments under child labour prohibition and regulation Act 1986, implemented with effect from 10th October 2006, are also explained to the parents.

    RAJA YOGA MEDITATION CLASSES: The Brahma Kumaries of Raja Yoga center Kollapur Branch make visits to the oldage home and conduct spiritual classes and teach the practice of meditation and Raja Yoga.
  • The Bramha Kumaries also visit villages for the awareness camps and explain the benefits of meditation and spirituality to bring peace, prosperity and happiness in the society. Several literature pamphlets and posters are distributed in the villages relating to RAJA YOGA.

    WORLD ELDERS ABUSE AWARNESS CAMP: We have also conducted awareness camps on prevention of elder abuse and to protect the human values, specially relating to elders. We also discuss the decline of human and spiritual values in the young generation as the reason for abuses and encourage elders to obtain police help in cases of torture.

    PREVENTON OF LIQUOR AND SMOKING: We have conducted awareness camps on prevention of consumption of liquor and smoking. The young and old people are made aware of the harmful health affects due to liquor and smoke and suggest to refrain from these habits.

  • AWARENESS CAMP FOR DISABLED CHILDREN: The awareness camp for the disabled children was conducted in the villages to explain and advise the uses of regular treatment and exercise. We celebrated disability day on 03-12-2011 with the disabled children and their parents and the MEO distributed slates, pencils, note books and nutrition biscuits.
  • ELDERS DAY: We participate in the Elders Day celebrations on 1st October of every year at the Town hall, Mahaboobnagar District HQRs, along with our old people.
  • DISTRIBUTION OF SARIES AND DHOTHIES: The local leaders, NGO’s and other organizations have visited the oldage Home and distributed saries, dhothies, bread and fruits to the older people.
  • CAMP ON SPIRITUALITY AND GRAMA VIKAS: The Brahma Kumaries of Kollapur branch and other branches have conducted Raya Yoga spiritual classes and Grama Vikas programmes in the villages along with the members of the society. The aims and the objects of the Grama Vikas have been explained to the farmers of the villages.
  • LEGAL LITERACY CAMP: The Honorable Junior Civil Judge of Kollapur has conducted legal literacy camp on 10.12.2011 at the Viswa Shanti Welfare Society oldage home, Kollapur. The honorable Judge, BAR Association president and Advocates have delivered their speeches on Human rights and Law. The camp was attended by the society President, Secretary and other members along with local people.
  • THE ENVIRONMENTAL CLEANLYNESS: The Environment and cleanliness camps were conducted in the villages to explain and educate people to keep the environment neat and clean. The impact of clean environment on human life was addressed in the camp. It was explained that one should take care of his own health as well as take care of the community. Various kinds of prevention methods to protect the health from the diseases were also explained to the people in the villages.
  • SPECIAL PROGRAMS OF SERVICES: We have conducted Special Service Programs regarding the distribution of Slates, Slates Pencils, Note Books, pencils and Nutrition Biscuits to the school students of some Villages in Kollapur and four other mandals. We have specially visited the Tribal School and distributed slates and note books to the students.
  • MEDICAL CHECKUP AT OLD AGE HOME: Part time doctor Sri. V. Gnaneshwar visits to the oldage home every week and conducts medical checkup to the residents. Necessary medicines will purchased and distributed as needed. The Doctor explains all precautionary measures to the older people related to their health and conducts regular follow-up tests.
